Crop productivity of a few varieties of sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides L.) in Warmia conditions
Summary
From 2000 to 2005, five varieties of sea buckthorn were analysed in crop productivity at the Educational and Experimental Station of the University of Warmia and Mazuria in Olsztyn, Poland. The varieties evaluated were ‘Podarok Sadu’, ‘Botanitcheskaya’, ‘Otradnaya’, ‘Trofimovskaya’ and un-named wild variety. The first four varieties were obtained from the Belarusian Institute of Pomology at Samokhvalovitchi, Belarus. They was one-year herbaceous seedlings. The wild variety was collected from the neighbourhood of Olsztyn, Poland.
The crops from the tested varieties of fruit varied. The highest mean yields 11.32 kg per bush (9,42 t·ha-1) were in 2003 – it was four year of yielding of these plants. The variety with the highest six-year average yield was ‘Otradnaja’ (6.08 kg per bush). The yield for these variety was significantly higher in 2003 than in the other five year of the study. The lowest yield in 2000-2005 was obtained from the wild form i.e. 3.28 kg per bush. The cultivars of the sea buckthorn produced in Belarus give satisfactory yields but differed in 2000-2005 in the conditions of Warmia.
